RM11E Group, River Mile 11 East
GRI provided geotechnical services to support the RM11E project located along the east bank of the Willamette River. The project is the first Portland Harbor Superfund site considered for remediation. The shoreline along the length of the project includes numerous docks and public and private stormwater outfalls. Available geotechnical information indicates portions of the upland are mantled with up to about 40 feet of uncontrolled fill consisting of soils and construction debris. GRI addressed geotechnical considerations associated with preliminary dredging and capping mitigation concepts. Constraints associated with active industrial sites, past slope instability, and proposed dredging at the toe of the slope were significant considerations for this project.
