Portland Public Schools, Lincoln High School Replacement
Lincoln High School was demolished and was rebuilt under the 2017 Portland Public Schools Bond program. The replacement, six-story school was relocated to the western half of the site, which was previously occupied by the track and football field. The new school also includes an auditorium, outdoor plaza that welcomes students into the main entrance, a 500 seat performing arts center, a 1,700 seat gymnasium, STEM laboratory spaces, and Career Technician Education center. The new plaza is adjacent to the student commons and is utilized for outdoor activities and gatherings. The plaza connects the campus to the neighborhood through a pedestrian-friendly design that features student bicycle parking and water-efficient landscaping.
Phase two of this project includes the demolition and abatement of the previous school building and the other half of the new development – the new track and field and football site, located where the previous Lincoln High School building was, was completed in Summer of 2023.
GRI completed phased geotechnical investigations and a site-specific seismic-hazard evaluation for the replacement of Lincoln High School. Preliminary geotechnical investigations were completed to assist in evaluating alternatives for the school replacement and a final investigation was completed to develop recommendations for final design of the preferred alternative.
