The overall project extends a distance of about 17 miles. GRI evaluated subsurface conditions with drilled borings, hand-auger borings, and test pit excavations, and completed laboratory testing. GRI developed geotechnical recommendations for design and construction of the improvements, addressing foundation support for the bridge, retaining walls, and box culverts; seismic considerations; earthwork, including excavation, shoring, structural fills, and drainage; lateral earth pressures; and pavement design considerations.
