City of Milwaukie, Kellogg Creek Bridge Replacement
The existing single-span concrete bridge in the Milwaukie Riverfront Park over Kellogg Creek was built in 1957. Due to flooding in 2015, scour damage was noted under the footings. City of Milwaukie hired a design-build team to replace the bridge. The new bridge has a length and width of about 125 and 30 feet, respectively, and consists of precast, reinforced, concrete girders and a cast-in-place concrete deck. As part of a contractor-lead design-build team, GRI provided geotechnical engineering design services for the project using existing available geotechnical borings. GRI developed recommendations for bridge pile foundations driven to rock; retaining wall design; and addressed seismic design considerations, including the potential for liquefaction and lateral spreading deformations. GRI provided construction engineering services during construction of the bridge.
