Port of Portland, Runway 10L-28R Pavement Rehabilitation

As part of our current Geotechnical On-Call contract with the Port, GRI completed a pavement evaluation for Runway 10L-28R (North Runway) and its adjoining taxiways between the hold lines and runway at the Portland International Airport (PDX). Our project team completed visual surveys of pavement distress, nondestructive deflection testing, pavement coring and shallow explorations, backcalculation analysis of elastic properties of pavement layers, and pavement-rehabilitation design for the subject pavements. GRI then provided pavement rehabilitation recommendations and reconstruction recommendations for longer design periods. Our work was conducted in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars.
