Where is your hometown? How did it shape who you are today?
I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where the winters are dark and frozen and the summers are short and busy. It’s a place where small accidents can quickly turn deadly, and the locals are fast to offer help if it looks like someone is in a tough spot. There, I learned the importance of community, and I bring with me the value of building community wherever I go.
What is your favorite book/article?
Deliverance. (Yes, I know the movie has a reputation, but try the book!) It is spooky and short; Dickey has a really unique writing style that inspires vivid imagery with just a few words.
Favorite activity outside of work?
I love to travel and explore the outdoors, so on the weekends I try to get out camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, canoeing, fishing … as much as possible.
