Ryan Lawrence, PE

Associate

Ryan joined GRI in 2024 and has been performing geotechnical work in the greater Portland area since moving back here in 2007. As an Associate, Ryan is responsible for managing projects, developing client relationships, and mentoring younger staff. He has worked on a wide variety of public and private projects throughout his career, including transportation, water, commercial, residential, and government projects. He has extensive experience performing site investigations, identifying potential hazards that can impact projects, and developing cost-effective mitigation options that allow projects to move forward.

What interests you most about geotechnical engineering?:
Life is never boring! Each day presents unique challenges to solve, opportunities to learn new things, interesting conversations, and the chance to improve the buildings and infrastructure people use every day.

Favorite meal?:
Discovering a new hole-in-the-wall restaurant with amazing food and unique flavors.

Favorite activity outside of work?:
Hanging out with my three young kids and introducing them to new places, foods, sports, books, movies, games, and other experiences that I know they will enjoy.
