Rian Sarka, GIT

Field Specialist

Rian joined GRI in 2026 after finishing his Bachelors in Geology at Portland State University. As a field specialist, he is responsible for completing subsurface investigations, conducting laboratory testing of soil and rock, and providing construction observation services. He has extensive experience in geologic mapping and geomorphic assessment, with a specialized focus on characterizing soil and rock units within the Pacific Northwest. Rian is a certified Geologist-in-Training (GIT) and is actively working towards his professional licensure.

Favorite activity outside of work?
Hiking, playing the saxophone, watching horror movies.
