Project Engineer

Per Onsager joined GRI in 2023 with a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from University of Washington. As a Project Engineer, he is responsible for managing complex field exploration programs, soil and rock engineering analysis, and comprehensive report preparation. He brings experience with design engineering and has served as a task lead in a wide range of landslide, water/wastewater, and transportation infrastructure projects.

What interests you most about geotechnical engineering?:
Every project includes a unique combination of soil, rock, water, and topographic conditions. Add into the mix the wide spectrum of soil behaviors, and every project offers a one-of-a-kind set of challenges at the interface between the natural and built environments.

What is your favorite book/article?:
Anything written by Sir Terry Pratchett.

Favorite meal?:
Cheeseburgers (preferably with good ol’ American cheese), thin-cut fries, a generous serving of ketchup, and a beer.

An interesting face about yourself?:
I have visited 22 countries.
