GRI welcomes Max Miller! Max joined GRI in late 2020 after finishing his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering at Portland State. He will work under the close direction of a senior geologist, engineer, or principal and is responsible for completing subsurface investigations, conducting laboratory testing of soil and rock, and providing construction observation services.

What interests you most about geotechnical engineering?
Playing in the dirt… FOR SCIENCE!

What is your favorite thing about working at GRI?
I have the opportunity to learn from exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable colleagues while working on a wide range of projects.

Where is your hometown? How did it shape who you are today?
Growing up in the foothills of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, I was surrounded by epic geology while hiking, camping, and fishing with my family.

An interesting fact about yourself.
Before retraining in Civil Engineering, I worked as a bicycle messenger, professional mechanic, metal fabricator, and sushi chef.
