Jakob Strasilla

Engineering Staff

Jakob joined GRI in 2022 after finishing his Masters in Civil Engineering. As part of the geotechnical engineering staff team, he will be responsible for completing subsurface investigations, conducting laboratory tests of soil and rock, performing engineering analyses under direction of a senior engineer, and providing construction observation services. His graduate thesis focused on capturing the energy loss that takes place during the Standard Penetration Tests due to increasing sampler rod length.

What interests you most about geotechnical engineering?
Developing critical thinking to combat the inherent uncertainty of the profession. 

Favorite activity outside of work?
Soccer, basketball, water polo, volleyball, snowboarding, and backpacking.

An interesting fact about yourself.
I flew a plane before I drove a car.
