Originally from Vancouver, Washington, Tyler attended the University of Washington to obtain his BS in Civil Engineering and MS in Geotechnical Engineering. While at the UW, he was an active member of the Union Bay Rowing Club and Husky Ski Team. As a Master’s student he spearheaded a pilot project to test the viability of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance technology for site investigation. He joined GRI in 2020 as part of the engineering staff team. He will be responsible for completing subsurface investigations, conducting laboratory testing of soil and rock, performing engineering analyses, and providing construction observation services.

What interests you most about geotechnical engineering?
How site specific each project is and how engineering practices can be applied to earth sciences. 

What is your favorite project completed at GRI?
VA Portland. Interesting site and investigation methods (Suspension logging, PMT)

Where is your hometown? How did it shape who you are today?
Vancouver, WA. It is nice to be close to family (and dog)  while still living in a large city (Portland).
