Business Development Lead
Gene joined GRI in 1991 after finishing her Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Oregon State University. She manages GRI’s pursuits related to federal, ports and waterfront, and power and energy market sectors. During her time at GRI, she has been involved with all phases of investigation, design, construction, and contracting, and brings a unique perspective to developing client relationships. She is a past president of the ASCE Oregon Section and currently serves on the board of SAME Portland Post. When not at work, she enjoys adventures with her family; escaping into the garden to grow roses, peonies, and sunflowers; and sampling exceptional regional wines.
What interests you most about geotechnical engineering?
I am fascinated by the vastness of geology and how it shapes our built world.

I enjoy working with the exceptional people here at GRI!
What is your favorite book/article?
Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing – Exploration of Antarctica. A close second is The Path between the Seas: The Creation of the Panama Canal by David McCullough.
