Matt joined GRI in July of 2019 after completing his master’s degree at Oregon State University, where he studied and conducted research relating to asphalt pavement materials and transportation engineering. His research focused on developing impervious pavement systems to protect concrete bridge decks in Oregon. As part of the engineering staff team, Matt works under the mentorship of senior-level staff on a variety of pavement evaluation, design, and management projects. He has spent a significant amount of time working on the Port of Portland pavement management project, performing PCI surveys, assisting with design for reconstruction of the Troutdale Airport runway, and observing pavement-related construction, including full-depth reclamation with cement and asphalt paving.
