The parking lot of the former River Queen floating restaurant and adjacent parking lot on the west bank of the Willamette River were redeveloped with two 10-story condominium towers with parking levels embedded about 20 ft below existing site grade. The parking garage extends from Naito Parkway to about 25 ft from the crest of the riverfront slope. Shoring walls were necessary to construct the below-grade parking. The project also included construction and restoration of the greenway along the riverfront. Stone columns were installed along the riverfront to improve static and seismic slope stability and mitigate seismically induced lateral spreading of the site. GRI conducted geotechnical and site-specific seismic hazard studies for the project, developed recommendations for design and construction of the project, and provided observation services and consultation during earthwork and foundation construction.
