Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade

Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade
Portland, Oregon

The Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade is 1.5 miles long, extending north from the Hawthorne Bridge, past the Morrison and Burnside bridges, to the Steel Bridge with connections to eastside neighborhoods. The project was a combined City of Portland, Portland Development Commission, and Oregon Department of Transportation effort to revitalize a portion of the east bank of the Willamette River. GRI has provided environmental and geotechnical services for multiple phases of the project, including the floating walkway, Convention Center Dock, the Burnside Bridge connector, the concrete bulkhead cantilevered walkway, the slurry wall viewing platform, and the at-grade walkway and proposed stadium seating.
