Water Intake Structure

4289 Grants Pass WTP Intake Improvements--Resized

Water Intake Structure
Grants Pass, Oregon

GRI provided geotechnical consultation for the improvements to the existing intake structure for the water treatment plant for the City of Grants Pass, Oregon. In conjunction with the intake improvements, slope protection was provided downstream of the existing intake structure, which included extending the new intake out into the river a distance of about 6 ft and installing new fish screens and cleaning system. The slope protection consists of steel sheet piles, soil anchors, and Geocells, similar to improvements accomplished upstream of the existing intake structure in 2001. GRI assisted with the geotechnical-related issues associated with the design of foundation support for the new fish screen and the riverbank protection downstream of the planned improvements.
