GRI is the geotechnical engineer of record for this $242 million hospital expansion currently under construction in Hillsboro, Oregon.  The expansion includes a four-story, 280,000 sq ft hospital; an eight-story parking garage with spaces for 953 vehicles; and a five-story, 110,000 sq ft medical office building.  The structures are designed with basements up to 15 ft below the groundwater level and are supported on spread footings.  GRI designed open-cut excavations up to 15 ft below the water table to avoid having to use more expensive shoring alternatives for this project.  GRI personnel provided field observation services and consultation during construction for all structures.
